Saturday songs for Baby Boomers Posted: 23 Feb 2013 02:41 PM PST Those of you who fit a certain age demographic as I do, probably remember that early morning Saturday television consisted of cartoons, but as the day went on, we visited the Old West. There were shows about kids and their dogs, kids and their horses, masked heroes, western heroes and their sidekicks, and loners who aimed to bring law and order to the wild, wild west. Somehow, we were able to see good guys and bad guys, and we knew the difference. No one felt obliged to go out and have a shoot-em-up in real life. Fantasy and reality were distinct. As I was recalling some of the old western shows, I started to think about the theme songs, those catchy tunes that signaled that your favorite cowboy or other western hero was "on the air." There were so many great examples, so I thought I would choose a few and put them into a short video. I mostly included just snippets of the songs, but it will be enough to make anyone who shares these memories nostalgic. So, return with me now, "to those thrilling days of yesteryear." Enjoy. |
